Penny Arcade The Penny Arcade is one of the lasting reminders of how simple life was in the 1900's. Although there are very few "games" left in the penny arcade, many of the old devices remain. Among these are Kinetoscopes and Mutascopes. Mutascopes are devices that allow you to flip through pictures by turning a crank. By doing so the pictures produce movement... much like a flipbook.
The old movies really are a treat... they reveal the cultural differences from that long ago time. Many of the old Machines were salvaged from carnivals and movies houses of the time.
During a refurbishment in 1997 a Taffy Counter was added to the center of the Penny Arcade, but some of the old machines are still there. One of the more famous artifacts of the old penny arcade is Esmeralda. Esmeralda is an old fortuneteller who can see the future. She sits right at the entrance of the Arcade and if you see her... drop a quarter in and see what your future holds.
