Prologue Main Street is the first land that visitors to Disneyland encounter, and for the first time visitors, the first part of the themed Disney experience. Main Street USA, unlike all the other lands at Disneyland wasn’t based on a movie, television show, or even a current fad. Main Street exists today, because of the desire Walt had to have a representation of his old hometown as a starting point to all the adventures in Disneyland. It stands today, virtually identical to the Main Street that Walt saw when Disneyland opened in 1955.
