Disney's California Adventure Restaurants

It should be noted at the outset that plans are constantly in flux for this second theme park, and we are largely uncertain about which restaurants will make it into the resort.

I will post the restaurants as I hear them, while trying to weed out wild rumor (though unofficial inclusions may be present if I trust the source). When DCA opens in 2001, I will present menus and prices.

One rumor which appears to have some basis in fact is that a portion of DCA will be given over for a miniature vineyard and winery, purportedly to be sponsored by Robert Mondavi Restaurants. It appears that they, as well as other rumored sponsors, will be the owners of the restaurants. Disney will apparently not receive profits but instead get money from the sponsors under a licensing fee.

The "Citywalk"-type area that is to be built in the triangular space between Disneyland, DCA, and the Disneyland Hotel will also feature numerous restaurants. Supposedly mentioned in connection with this area are Planet Hollywood, Rainforest Cafe, and House of Blues. I've seen the Planet Hollywood with my own eyes at Festival Disney (the Citywalk equivalent near Disneyland Paris), and I just ignored it. Maybe it makes money as a novelty to European audiences, but I just can't see that as a serious draw for southern Californians or indeed Americans in general. For that matter, how Disney is the House of Blues or the Rainforest Cafe? I understand the drive for themed eating experiences - Disney practically invented it - but is Disney out of its own ideas?
