Orlando Science Center

Review:

If you're the type who likes science and technology museums, those places that encourage hands-on interactivity and combine that philosophy with more traditional museum-type displays, then you're going to like the OSC.

It's a first-rate science museum, with four floors worth of content in a fairly new facility. It's got exhibits on dinosaurs, Florida's ecosystems, the human body, physics and science, the solar system, computers, and science labs.

The exhibits aim at all ages, meaning there are things to do for very young children (just TRY to pry them away from the addictive machine that simulates the packing up of harvested oranges), medium-age children, and older kids. Adults are targeted only intellectually: science has to be your thing, or you may be bored.

There's a giant-format screen here for IMAX films, at extra cost. Ditto a planetarium, which also has a laser show. Those costs could add up, but the admission itself is reasonable, and a terrific way to beat the heat of a summer day in Orlando.
