Individual Categories -
Table Service
The winners listed here are decided by holistic and qualitative opinion, rather
than by calculated score. No restaurant is allowed to be mentioned in more than
one category, because otherwise some restaurants (notably Victoria and Albert's,
Jiko, and California Grill) would dominate in multiple categories. This rule
results in sometimes having to decide a restaurant's best quality and placing
it in that category, even though it may excel in multiple ways.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where are the current
menu items and prices?
A: We do stay up to date with prices and menu items, but it's in a format optimized
for publishing the book (see below). To convert all that information on a regular
basis also for the Web would be difficult to maintain. However, we will make an old version of the
menu items and prices from a previous year available as a single PDF download, coming soon.
Q: Why should customers bother
to buy the book when prices are available online here and on other websites?
A: Three reasons. First, the book includes an index for each park, so you can
quickly find out where the food item you're craving is being sold. Second, you'd
spend more money simply printing out (or photocopying) all the online pages
that list current menus and prices than you would by buying the book, which
is highly portable and an ideal companion in the parks. Third, the book includes
much more than Walt Disney World; you'll find information there on the restaurants
surrounding WDW and on International Drive, and starting in mid-20008 you'll find menu items and prices
from the restaurants in Universal Studios, too. That's information you can't
find anywhere else in the world.
Q: What is the value of reviews
done by one family? Wouldn't it be better to let users submit their own reviews
and generate a consensus of each facility?
A: There are websites which do just that, and they serve a valuable purpose.
But there's a drawback to that approach, too. Because people's opinions are
different and everyone judges with individual levels of "harshness",
just about every restaurant will, over time, garner some reviews that are glowingly
positive and others that are scathingly negative, and viewers at home have a
hard time judging what to believe. On such websites, the reviews blend into
a swirl of gray, with seemingly every eatery (with a few notable exceptions)
both loved and hated. Our approach provides a different service. Since we are
the same people writing each review, the same degree of rigor is brought to
bear on each restaurant, and viewers can spot the cream when it rises to the
top.
Q: But isn't your methodology
subject to specifics from the day of the visit, such as your mood or the conditions
in the restaurant at the moment when you happen to visit?
A: Because that is a possibility, we guard against it as much as we can when
writing the review. We also plan to track not only the most recent visit, but
all previous visits as well, and merge the scores. Over time, this will yield
a increasingly reliable indicator of an eatery's worth.
