The menu for Beaches and Cream contains burgers and the like, but we were here for the ice cream. Alas, the big meal of ice cream, winkingly titled The Kitchen Sink, is only served at the table service side of the house (there's also a to-go window). So we had to take up a table just for dessert, which made us feel slightly guilty.

The Kitchen Sink ($22) is eight scoops of ice cream of various flavors, goodies such as brownies, angel food cake, frozen candy bars, hot fudge, and cherries thrown into the works, and, as they call it, "every topping we have." That's not the worst part. There's also an entire can of whipped cream used, to fill out the concoction's custom-made dish, which does in fact resemble a kitchen sink and its about the size of a regulation basketball. It's tasty all right, and the flavors blend together pretty well. Good thing, too, because after ten minutes, everything starts to melt and you get a liquid dessert more suited to a straw than a spoon.

The outside menu claims it's enough for four people, but really, four adults would have to struggle mightily to eat all of it, requiring at least three bowlfuls each. Eight adults might be more like it, if you don't want to overdose on dessert. But the dining room here is vanishingly small, and wait times can occasionally be extreme. Consider indicating a willingness to eat at the countertop, so that your party gets spread out more, but you're likely to find instant seating that way.

The value of essentially all you can eat ice cream for $4 per person is the main draw here. Well, that and the little show they put on when the sink is delivered to the table. The overhead lights flash, and your server demands everyone's attention in the room (it's a small room), and announces the ingredients and gets everyone to clap for the family about to embark on a sugary high. It's not overdone, but do expect a little recognition... unless perhaps you convince your server ahead of time to skip it.
