The Cuban sandwich ($7) has the usual ingredients, but was heavier and greasier than a more authentic one would be. And while the bread was flaky and flat, something simply felt "off" on its authenticity, perhaps owing to the ham not being completely fresh. The black bean salad that came with it, though, was excellent. Tasting highly of pepper and cilantro, it also boasted a spicy aftertaste. Meanwhile, the fish and chips ($7) was light, flaky, and tasty, though one of my companions claimed it was a bit too doughy for her taste.
The child's chicken nuggets ($4) is identical to elsewhere in the park, which is to say lighter than the usual McDonald's variety, and the new frying oil for 2007 makes the fries taste crisp and light. We did discover a new benefit on this trip: the side applesauce makes for an excellent baby food substitute. Lastly, the strawberry parfait ($4), though not advertised as "no sugar added" is indeed identical to the ones offered elsewhere in the park that has no extra sugar
Due to poor planning when it was built, the restaurant has far too few registers and counter space to serve people, and the lines are usually long, unless it's an uncrowded day and you're there between major meal times. The one and only upside to long lines is that the plethora of indoor tables and seats yields spots to be found, often claimed ahead of time by family members of the people in line. The Commissary also doubles as a good place to simply escape the weather outside, and grateful folks often do just that.
