One of several counter-service locations in the market zone of Sunset Blvd (and one of the two that have fuller menus), Rosie's takes pride in its all-American theme and corrosponding menu. No fancy foods here! Sadly, the quality is about as low as you might be expecting in your darker moments of pessimism.

The cheeseburger ($6) might have been reasonably priced, but that would only be true if the value held up to minimum standards. But this burger was flat, joyless, old, bland, and redolent with fillers. In short, it was everything you'd expect out of a high school cafeteria burger, but at a higher price. There weren't a lot of toppings to be had at the condiment stand; just ketchup, mustard, and relish from packets. At least the fries it came with were fresh, hot, and salty.

Meanwhile, the chicken strips ($7) were equally light and fresh. The meal came with three of them (not quite worth the price), and like the burger, one had a choice of fries or potato salad. We tried the potato salad and realized to our surprise that it wasn't the mayonnaise-dominated concoction we were expecting, but the vinegar-inflected German style potatoes. That was all the more surprising, given the location's theme as "America during WWII," when Germany was the enemy. At least the potato salad was good - arguably the best thing we had.

For dessert, the apple pie ($4) was a complete rip-off. Served in a clear plastic dish and eschewing crust at all for just apple filling and some crumbles at the top, it was routine and uninspired, and way too small for its price.

Service wasn't too fast, despite being a walk-up location. This is likely due to the massing crowds for Fantasmic, which is held nearby, and other hours of the day may have seen quicker wait times. There is ample seating in the marketplace area, but all of it is open-air and not particularly protected from the elements. Nearby smoking sections waft air pollution into the eating area, so be wary of that if you're suspectible.
