Adventure Island

The impossibly hilly parking lot at Adventure Island gives way to unobtrusive signage. This is a low-key park, with small expectations, and that is reflected in its decor.

A typical view at Adventure Island: white sandy beaches, a concrete trough with flowing water, and not much going on.

Several of the more sedate waterslides converge onto the same pool. There is decent tropical theming, but you'll need to look elsewhere for thrills.

Another view of the concrete trough running throughout many areas of the park.

The wave pool, such as it is. It's fairly small, but then again the waves are also small. In fact, they are barely present.

One of the highlights of Adventure Island, this children's play zone spouts water from just about every angle.

It's a kinetic sculpture, a series of squirting fountains you can play in, and a jungle gym all in one.

For (little) kids who like to climb, nothing could be more fun.

Bet you haven't seen one of these in a while: it's a speed slide that you navigate while sitting upright on a firm sled. You need a lot of room at the bottom for a gradual slowdown!

The requisite lazy river. At Adventure Island, it's a small one and fairly nondescript.

A family/partner raft ride overlaps with an enclosed tube before splashing down in the same pool.

The tower for the speed slides actually includes four slides, two of the really steep variety and two less so. One course crosses over the other in a neat visual layout.
