Florida Aquarium

Expect a difficult time following street signs to the Aquarium, which is fairly far from major highways.

Fittingly, the Aquarium is right on the water. Here's a view of the channel which leads out to the Gulf of Mexico.

A major portion of the Aquarium is a covered atrium, designed as if it were outdoors.

Alligators in clumps. It's somewhat frightening to put your face right up to the glass.

Here's a wide view of the atrium. Fish exhibits on both sides of the walkway are partly obscured by foliage; it's rather a nice setup.

Still more walkways in the atrium.

Inside, there are modern displays of particular kinds of sea life... and a lab right there in the museum.

Some minimal efforts at theming are better than nothing, but not particularly inspiring.

Neon in the central, rather functional area. Most of the museum is located on the second floor of the building, which limits how much there is to see.

The coral reef wing of the floor is colorful and interesting.

Who doesn't love enormous tanks full of colorful fish?

Especially when it's feeding time and they swarm...

... and the swarming lasts for minutes at a time.

Leafy sea dragons. You may have seen them before, but I bet you haven't seen quite this many in one spot!

A series of informational screens took on the deliberate look of Star Trek interfaces, even using terms like LIFEFORM and TACTICAL.

The first floor has no exhibits, but it does have an outdoor play area, complete with wading pools and interactive fountains.
